Importing Pets to Thailand

Welcome to the Land of Smiles. We ensure your pets enter Thailand smoothly, legally, and without unnecessary delays.

Navigate Thailand's Pet Import Regulations with Ease

Bringing a pet to Thailand is an exciting step for any expat or returning resident. However, Thai customs and the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) have strict protocols that must be followed before your pet touch down at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) airports. At **LUCKY PETS**, we act as your local representatives, coordinating with airport authorities to ensure a fast and safe entry.

The Essential Thailand Import Permit

The most critical document for entering Thailand is the **Import Permit**. This must be secured from the Animal Quarantine Station at least 15–30 days before your arrival. Without this permit, your pet may be refused entry or placed in mandatory quarantine at your expense.

We handle the entire application process, submitting your pet's vaccination records and microchip details to the DLD on your behalf. Once approved, we provide you with the official permit required by the airline at the point of departure.

Health Requirements for Dogs and Cats

To enter Thailand, your pet must meet the following health criteria:

  • **Microchipping:** An ISO 11784/11785 compliant microchip is mandatory.
  • **Rabies Vaccination:** Must be administered at least 21 days before arrival and be no older than 12 months.
  • **Core Vaccinations:** For dogs (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Leptospirosis). For cats (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia).
  • **Veterinary Health Certificate:** An official certificate from your home country's government veterinarian (e.g., USDA in the US, DEFRA in the UK).

Airport Clearance & Customs

The day of arrival can be stressful. Our agents meet you (or your pet if they travel as cargo) at the airport baggage or cargo area. We facilitate the payment of customs duties and ensure the quarantine officer stamps the "Permit to Stay" for your pet. Our goal is to get your pet home within 1–2 hours of landing.
